Stream My New Single "Shark Puncher" Now + Album Announcement
My debut solo album, All Hail West Frankfort, will be out May 21st via Honey Gold Records. You can stream the first single “Shark Puncher” today wherever you stream music.
Shark Puncher is about wanting to protect your loved ones from the dangers of this world while knowing full well that there are certain threats that you simply can’t shield them from.
More specifically, my six-year-old son does this thing where he asks, “Dad, what would you do if a shark bit me?” or “What would you do if a sabertooth tiger jumped out of that bush and attacked me?”
And I get to be a cool dad by saying things like, “I’d yeet that son of a bitch sabertooth into the sun!” Except I don’t say son of a bitch. I mean, he’s six, you know? Anyways. It’s nice because right now I have all the answers to anything he can think of that may possibly be a threat to him, but I know one day that won’t be the case. I’m terrified of what I’ll do if anxiety and depression come for my kids the way they do for me. There’s nothing I can do to protect them from facing the devastation of heartache or the crush of failure. So this song is my best effort to put those feelings into words.
I recorded it in my basement while my kids stomped around upstairs, joyfully oblivious. Hope you like it.
Forever thank you to my guy Major Rich for the cover art and friendship.
