All Hail West Frankfort is Out Now!
All Hail West Frankfort is, among other things, eight songs about eleven people, two houses, a '41 Willy's Coupe, anxiety, fatherhood, and a children's shelter for neglected youth. It's up to you to decide exactly which songs are about what though.
The title is an homage to (or derivative of) The Mountain Goats album, All Hail West Texas, which I think is an absolute classic so if you haven't heard that, go listen to that instead and then try this one if you'd like.
AHWF was recorded in my basement in short bursts between September 2020 and February 2021. At times you may hear my kids stomping around upstairs or the fuzz of the heater kicking on or water rushing by in pipes, all of which I hope adds to the album's sincerity.
Major Rich helped write the lyrics for "East Oak in Bad Decline" and "Best Ever Punk Band in Benton." Major also painted the cover art. He's the best friend a person can have.
The song, "Best Ever Punk Band in Benton" obviously owes a lot to Lou & the Guillotine, the band that inspired the song. Many thanks to Bryan and Wes R for sharing their stories, some of which found their way into the lyrics.
Kalen Orr mastered the songs at Honey Gold Studios down in Texas. Thank you to Honey Gold Records for putting it out. It’s always nice when your friends believe in you.
Also, thanks to Stacy for literally everything including getting me a recording mic for my birthday thus leading to this thing being made.
